-According the U.S. House of Representatives, around 16-20 people die everyday because they failed to receive a needed organ transplant. These deaths occur despite the 5,000+ people who die every year who could have been organ donors, but aren't.
-To find out more go to www.UNOS.org .  UNOS brings together medicine, science, public policy and technology to facilitate every organ transplant performed in the United States. Every day, UNOS assists transplant doctors, patients, and members of the public by helping to ensure that organs are procured and distributed in a fair and timely manner.
-Make sure you talk to your family and loved ones about your wishes for organ donation! Trust me the donor symbol on your drivers license means nothing when you are lying in a hospital on life support. That decision will be made by your husband/wife or loved ones... This is an incredibly difficult decision to make in devastating times but it is much easier to make when you have made your wishes clear to the people you love. Please watch the video below, it is a powerful story about a brave little girl who desperately needs a new heart.
